The Autumn Farm
"Look, Mommy! The leaves are orange and red!" said Tommy, his eyes wide with wonder.
"Yes, Tommy," replied his mom with a smile. "It's autumn, and the leaves change color. It's very special."
"Why do they change, Mommy?" asked Tommy, holding a bright red leaf in his tiny hand.
"The trees get ready for winter," explained Mommy. "They let their leaves go to sleep."
"Oh, like my teddy bear goes to sleep," giggled Tommy.
"Exactly," Mommy chuckled. "Now, let's go to the farm and see what else is special about autumn."
The Farm Adventure
At the farm, Tommy saw Farmer Joe picking big, round pumpkins. "Hello, Farmer Joe!" shouted Tommy, waving happily.
"Hello there, Tommy!" said Farmer Joe. "Would you like to help pick some pumpkins?"
"Yes, please!" said Tommy, bouncing with excitement.
Farmer Joe handed Tommy a small pumpkin. "This one is just your size," he said with a wink.
Tommy hugged the pumpkin. "It's like a big orange ball, Farmer Joe!"
"It is! And do you know what we can do with pumpkins?" asked Farmer Joe.
Tommy shook his head, curious. "What?"
"We can make pumpkin pie, and it's very yummy," said Farmer Joe.
"Yummy!" said Tommy, imagining the taste.
Stories of Autumn
As they walked through the farm, Mommy said, "Tommy, do you want to hear a story about autumn?"
"Yes, please!" said Tommy, his eyes sparkling.
"Once upon a time, there was a little squirrel," began Mommy. "The squirrel was very busy gathering acorns for the winter."
"Why did the squirrel do that, Mommy?" asked Tommy.
"Because in winter, it's hard to find food," explained Mommy. "So, the squirrel was smart and saved food."
"That's clever," said Tommy, nodding.
"Yes, and the squirrel was happy all winter long," finished Mommy.
"I like that story," said Tommy. "I want to be like the squirrel."
"You are, my little squirrel," said Mommy, giving Tommy a hug.
Colors and Traditions
As the sun began to set, Tommy looked around. "Look at the sky, Mommy! It's orange too!"
"Yes, Tommy, the sky is beautiful in autumn," said Mommy.
"Does autumn have other colors?" asked Tommy.
"Oh yes," said Mommy. "There are brown acorns, yellow corn, and red apples."
"I like all the colors," said Tommy, spinning around happily.
"Autumn is also a time for fun traditions," said Mommy. "Like jumping in leaf piles!"
"Can we do that, Mommy?" asked Tommy, excited.
"Of course!" said Mommy.
Tommy and Mommy jumped into a big pile of leaves, laughing and playing.
Goodnight, Autumn
As they walked back home, Tommy yawned. "I'm sleepy, Mommy."
"Autumn days can be busy," said Mommy softly. "But they are always full of magic."
"Goodnight, autumn," whispered Tommy, closing his eyes.
"Goodnight, my little leaf," said Mommy, tucking him in.
And with the sound of autumn leaves whispering outside, Tommy drifted off to sleep, dreaming of pumpkins, squirrels, and colorful skies.
