Poppy is small. She is two. She has a big sister, Mia, and a big brother, Tom. Today, it is raining outside. “Let's play inside!” says Mia. “Let's make a big, big fort!” says Tom.
Poppy claps her hands. “Yes! Big fort!” she laughs.
They pull the sofa cushions. They pull the big, soft blankets. They pile the pillows up high. Poppy giggles. “Pillow mountain!” she shouts.
Tom hides under a blanket. “Boo!” he says. Poppy jumps. “Peekaboo, Tom!” she laughs.
Mia crawls into the fort. “Poppy, come inside!” she calls. Poppy crawls in. Her socks slide. She bumps into a pillow. “Bump!” says Poppy. “Silly pillow!” says Mia.
Tom brings teddy bears. Teddy jumps! Teddy sits on Poppy's head. “Oh no, Teddy!” Poppy laughs. “Teddy, get down!”
Mia makes a window. “Hello, Poppy!” she says through the window. “Hello, Mia!” says Poppy. She pokes her nose out. They both giggle.
Tom brings a bowl of little crackers. “Snack time in the fort!” he says. Poppy munches. “Yum, yum!” she says.
Cracker crumbs fall on the pillow. “Oops!” says Poppy. “Crumb pillow!” laughs Tom.
Everyone wriggles and wiggles. The blankets slip! Oh! The fort falls down! Pillows everywhere. Poppy laughs. “Crash!” she says.
Mia hugs Poppy. “Come here, silly sister!” Tom hugs too. “Group hug!” says Tom.
“Again, again!” says Poppy.
Mia smiles. “Okay, Poppy. Let's make a new fort.” Poppy claps. Tom brings more pillows.
The rain taps on the window. Poppy smiles with her brother and sister, safe inside, in their soft, silly, squishy fort. Cozy, warm, and so, so happy.
