Ben is four. He has a sis. Her name is Lia. She is small and bright.
One day, they play on the rug. Ben has a red car. Lia has a blue cup. Ben zooms the car. "Vroom vroom!" he said. Lia claps. "Again!" she said.
Ben races the car. Lia wants to hold it. Ben holds tight. "Mine!" he said. Lia frowns. She grabs the wheel. "No!" she said. The car tilts. It goes "plink." Ben looks sad. Lia looks sad. A little cry pops out. Oh oh.
Their mom pats her hand. "Share," she said. Ben looks at Lia. He nods. He puts the car near her. Lia beams. She gives Ben a big tooth toy. "Here," she said. Ben laughs. "Thank you," he said. They both laugh. He says, "We play race!" She claps. "Go!" she said.
They make a ramp with a book. "Boing!" says the car. "Whee!" says Ben. "Heehee!" says Lia. The car jumps and falls. It lands in a sock. "Sock!" Ben says. They both giggle. Ben puts the sock on like a hat. "Ha!" he said. Lia puts a cup on her head like a hat. They wobble. The rug is a stage. They do a silly walk. "Tip tap," they say.
Snack time is next. There is one cookie. Ben picks it up. Lia reaches too. Ben thinks fast. He breaks the cookie in two. "Half for you," he said. Lia claps. They munch. Crumbs fly. "Crunch crunch," they sing.
Later, they build a fort with a sheet. They hide and peep. "Boo!" Ben says. Lia shrieks and then laughs. "Again!" she says. They tumble out in a soft pile. They hug. The little fuss fades. The rug is full of toys and giggle.
They wash hands, kiss cheeks, and go to nap. All calm and warm.
