Lila has a big smile and curly hair. She has a little brother, Max, who likes to copy everything she does. One sunny morning, Lila jumps on the soft carpet. “Boing! Boing!” she laughs. Max sees and jumps too. “Boing! Boing!” He giggles. The floor goes thump, thump with their small feet.
Lila takes her toy bunny and hugs it. Max wants the bunny too. He grabs the ear. “Mine!” says Max. “No, bunny is having a cuddle with me!” says Lila. The bunny's ears wiggle and flop. Lila and Max both hold one ear. For one tiny moment, they both look a little grumpy.
Then Lila makes a silly face. She sticks out her tongue, “Bleh!” Max laughs, “Bleh!” He does it too. Bunny drops to the floor—“Plop!” Both giggle and giggle. Lila picks up bunny and gives Max a big, gentle hug. Max hugs Lila back. The bunny gets a double cuddle.
“Let's play tickle!” says Lila. Her fingers go “tickle-tickle!” Max squeals, “Stop! Tickle!” but he laughs and wiggles. Their giggles fill the room. Mum peeks in and smiles. “What funny little monkeys!” she says.
Lila and Max fall on the carpet, tired but happy. Lila whispers, “Max is my best friend.” Max nods, hugging bunny.
Sometimes we want the same thing, but sharing and laughing makes everyone happy.
