Rabbit is a small, kind detective. One day Rabbit sees the red ball is gone. "Where is my ball?" said Rabbit. Hop, hop. "Look," said Bird. "Listen." Toc-toc at the door. "Quack," says Duck. They all look.
Bird flies up. "Peep, peep," says Bird. Mouse looks low. "Squeak," says Mouse. Bear pats his paw. "Tap, tap." They check the box. They check the bed. They check the bush. Tiny prints lead away. Hop, hop. They follow.
They find a wet patch by the pond. "Plouf," says Duck. A leaf wiggles. A small red bit shows. "There?" says Bird. The friends lift the leaf. A wet, red ball pops out. "Pop!" The ball is safe.
They clap and laugh. "Thank you," Rabbit said. "Good job," said Duck. They roll the ball slow. "Catch," said Mouse. "Hop," said Rabbit. "Toc-toc," they tap the drum. The sun is warm. The group is calm. All is safe.
In the morn they wake. They hug. They sip warm milk. They play more and laugh. The ball is red and round. All feel safe now. Good night.
Kind friends help find lost things.
