Bunny Pip wakes up. He hops to the rug. His red ball is not there. Pip blinks. He likes the red ball. He hugs his ear. He will look.
Pip puts on his tiny hat. He says, "I will find my ball." He smiles. His nose wiggles. He is gentle.
Pip finds a small mark on the floor. It is a round mark. It is soft. Pip taps it with his paw. "A clue," he says.
He hops out the door. The sun is warm. The grass is green. Pip sees Bird on a branch. Bird sings. Pip asks, "Did you see my ball?" Bird nods and points with a wing. Pip says, "Thank you."
Pip finds a tiny crumb on the path. He smells it. It smells sweet. He finds tiny paw prints in the mud. They are small and round. Pip counts. One, two, three. He giggles. He is getting closer.
Pip meets Cat at the gate. Cat is calm. Pip asks, "Did you see my red ball?" Cat blinks. Cat shows a soft ribbon. The ribbon is blue. Pip thinks. "Not my ball, but a clue," he says.
Pip goes on. He sees Mouse near the tree. Mouse nibbles a leaf. Pip asks, "Do you know where my ball is?" Mouse points behind the tree with a tiny paw. Pip hops fast. He peeks.
Behind the tree is a basket. The basket is warm. A small puppy snoozes inside. The puppy has the red ball. His tail is wagging. He dreams of play. Pip smiles wide.
Pip pats the puppy. He says, "Hello. Is that my ball?" Puppy opens one eye. He licks a paw. He looks sorry. Pip laughs. "It is okay," he says. He takes the red ball. He rolls it to the puppy. The puppy barks soft. They play. Bird sings. Cat purrs. Mouse claps.
Pip learned to look and listen. He followed small marks. He asked friends. He was kind. All is well.
Helping friends and thinking of small clues makes a nice day.
