Four children: Tom (6), short brown hair, yellow T-shirt and blue jeans, left holding an open blanket; Sam (5), messy blond hair, light red shirt and beige shorts, front right waving the blanket and calling the cat; Ben (7), side-parted black hair, round glasses, green sweater, right slightly back applauding and smiling; Max (5), red hair, muddy knee, blue-and-white striped T-shirt, crouched front left ready to catch; sunny garden with green lawn, daisies and pink tulips, an old tree with a low branch and a blurred red-brick house in the background; a gray-and-white cat with green eyes mid-jump from the branch toward the blanket, curious expression and tail up. report a problem with this image

One sunny day, four little boys named Tom, Sam, Ben, and Max were playing in the garden. Flowers bloomed, and the sun smiled down. Suddenly, they heard a soft “meow.”

“Where is Kitty?” asked Tom, looking around.

“Let's find her!” said Sam, clapping his hands.

The boys walked together, listening. “Meow, meow, said Kitty softly.

“Hmm,” said Ben, “let's check the bushes!” The boys peeked under the green leaves. “No Kitty,” said Max with a giggle.

“Meow!” came the sound again, a little louder. “Listen!” said Tom, cupping his ear.

The boys followed the sound to the big, old tree. “Look up!” said Sam, pointing. There, on a low branch, sat Kitty, her tail swishing.

“Kitty is up the tree!” said Ben, clapping.

“Let's help her down,” said Max. The boys thought hard. “We need a plan!” said Tom, tapping his chin.

They found a soft blanket. “Hop, hop!” said Max. They held it tight.

“Come on, Kitty!” called Sam, waving. Kitty looked down, curious.

“Meow!” said Kitty, jumping from the branch. “Plop!” She landed safely on the blanket. The boys cheered, “Hooray!”

Kitty purred and nuzzled each boy. They laughed and hugged Kitty.

Together, they learned that helping friends brings smiles and joy.
