Lila is a little girl. Lila loves her room. It is sunny and bright. But at night, Lila feels scared. The room is dark. The room is quiet.
“Mommy, I am scared,” says Lila.
Mommy smiles and hugs Lila. “It's okay, Lila. The dark is nice,” says Mommy. “Look, here is your night light. It makes a soft glow.”
The night light is small. The night light is warm. Lila feels a little better.
Lila's teddy bear is on the bed. “Teddy is here,” says Mommy. “Teddy is your friend.”
Lila hugs Teddy tight. Teddy is soft. Teddy is cuddly. Lila feels a little better.
“Let's sing a song,” says Mommy. “Twinkle, twinkle, little star.” Lila sings with Mommy. The song is sweet. The song is gentle.
Lila feels a little better.
“Look at the ceiling,” says Mommy. “See the stars? They twinkle just for you.”
Lila looks up. The stars are shiny. The stars are bright. Lila feels happy.
“Goodnight, Lila. Goodnight, Teddy,” says Mommy. She kisses Lila's cheek. Lila closes her eyes. The room is calm. The room is safe.
Lila is not scared. Lila is cozy. Lila feels sleepy.
“Night, night,” whispers Lila. Her eyes are closed. Her dreams are soft.
The night is kind. The night is quiet. Lila is not afraid. Lila is brave.
Lila sleeps. Teddy sleeps. Mommy smiles. The night is peaceful. The night is gentle.
And Lila dreams.
