Pip the rabbit has a soft bed. The room is quiet and warm. The moon peeks in. Pip hugs his big pillow. "Hello, pillow," he says. Puff! goes the pillow. Pip blinks. "Cake?" he says. Hee-hee! It is not cake. It is just air. Pat pat. Puff puff. All okay.
Knock knock on the window. Pip sits up. "Who is there?" he says. Tap tap. It is the small rain. Pip waves. "Hello, rain," he says. Drip drip. Plip plop. The drops dance and rest. All okay.
Whoosh goes the blanket. Pip giggles. "Wind?" he says. The blanket slides. Whoosh whoosh. "Oh! It is my blankie," he says. He pulls it up to his chin. Snug snug. Mmm.
Two little slippers sit by the bed. Pip points. "Boats?" he says. He sets them on the rug. "Sail, sail," he says. Swish, swish. The rug is the lake. The boats sail one tiny inch. Then they stop. "Good job," says Pip. He puts them back. All okay.
A round light spot is on the wall. Pip sees it. "Cookie?" he says. He hops. Hop hop. The spot moves. Swish. "Come here, cookie," he says. The spot slides to the chair. Pip taps the chair. Tap tap. It is not a cookie. It is the moon light. "Hello, moon," says Pip. "I see you." The moon shines. Shhh.
Quack from the toy duck. Pip smiles. "Did you say nap?" he says. "Quack," says the duck. Pip nods. "Me too," he says. He tucks the duck by his ear. Boop. The duck is still.
Pip yawns. A big, slow yawn. Aaaaaaah. His ears droop. His eyes get slow. His breath goes in... and out... soft and sweet, slow and deep, warm and cozy, quiet and calm.
He cuddles pillow and blankie. He whispers, "Good night, boats. Good night, moon. Good night, little rain." The room hums, hum hum, and stays kind and still.
We can giggle at little mix-ups, and then we can rest with a happy heart.
