In a sunny place, far, far away, there was a little boy named Max. Max was turning two years old, and he wanted to have a big birthday party. "Party time!" giggled Max, clapping his tiny hands.

Max decided to have his party by the beach. The sand was soft, and the waves went splash, splash. "Let's invite my friends!" said Max. He had a teddy bear named Teddy and a little duck named Quack.

Max found a big, colorful blanket. "This is for the picnic," he said. He put it on the sand. Teddy sat on one corner, and Quack sat on the other. "Comfy!" said Teddy. "Quack, quack!" said Quack.

Max wanted balloons. He looked around. "Balloons?" he asked. But the wind was too strong. The balloons went whoosh, up in the sky! "Uh-oh," said Max. "No balloons."

Max didn't worry. "We have the sea!" he laughed. The sea was blue and shiny. "Splash, splash," said the waves. "Happy birthday, Max!" they seemed to say.

Then Max wanted cake. "Cake, please!" he asked. But the cake was all gone! "Oh no!" said Max. "No cake."

Teddy had an idea. "Let's make a sand cake!" he said. Max and Quack clapped. They made a big, sandy cake. "Yummy!" they all said, pretending to eat.

Max heard music. "Music!" he cheered. But it was just the wind, singing through the trees. "La, la, la," sang the leaves. "Happy birthday, Max!" they seemed to say.

Max was happy. He had Teddy, Quack, the sand cake, and the sea. "Best party ever!" he giggled.

Then, Max's family came. "Surprise!" they shouted. Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma brought a real cake. It was big and sweet. "Happy birthday, Max!" they sang.

Max blew out two candles. "Hooray!" everyone cheered. Max was so happy. He had fun, friends, family, and cake.

Max smiled. "Thank you, everyone," he said, hugging Teddy and Quack. "This is the best birthday."

And the sea whispered, "Happy birthday, Max," as the sun went down slowly, painting the sky with colors. Max was sleepy, but oh so happy.
