In the fall, the leaves turn red, yellow, and brown. It is a very special time. At school, four friends, Mia, Jack, Lily, and Tom, play outside. "Look at the leaves!" says Mia. "Yes, they are so pretty," says Jack.
The teacher, Miss Rose, smiles. "Today, we learn about fall," she says. "What happens in fall?" she asks. "The leaves fall down," says Lily. "Yes," says Miss Rose. "The leaves fall, and we get ready for winter."
The children help. They pick up leaves. "Crunch, crunch," goes the leaves. "This is fun!" says Tom. They make a big pile of leaves. "Jump!" says Jack, and they all jump in. "Whee!" they all laugh.
Back in the classroom, Miss Rose shows them a pumpkin. "Look, a pumpkin!" she says. "It is orange." "Wow!" says Mia. "Can we touch it?" "Yes," says Miss Rose. The pumpkin feels bumpy and cool.
Then, they draw pictures of fall. Mia draws red leaves. Jack draws a big pumpkin. Lily draws a tree. Tom draws a squirrel. "Squirrels find nuts," says Tom. "Yes," says Miss Rose. "Squirrels get ready for winter too."
At home, they help in the garden. "Let's pick apples," says Dad. They pick apples from the tree. "Yummy!" says Lily. The apples are big and red. "We can make pie," says Mom. "Apple pie!" says Tom.
That night, they eat warm apple pie. "Fall is nice," says Mia. "Yes," says Jack. "Fall is fun," says Lily. "I like fall," says Tom.
Fall is a time to see, to help, and to play. It is a time to enjoy.
