Max hears happy voices. There is a small autumn party. People laugh. Max sees apples, pumpkins, and warm bread. He smells sweet pie. “Yum!” says Max.

Daddy helps Max plant a small tree. “We plant trees in autumn,” Daddy says. Max pats the dirt. The ground feels soft and cold. “Tree will grow,” Max says.

Everyone claps. Max feels happy. They sing a song. “Leaves fall down, trees grow strong, autumn days are warm and long.”

Max hugs Mommy. “I love autumn,” he says. Mommy hugs Max tight. “Autumn loves you too.”
