A kind smiling man, Captain Ben, with short brown hair and a red sailor hat kneels by an open wooden chest partly buried in sand and offers a shell to Ana, an amazed 8-year-old girl with braided black hair in a yellow polka-dot dress standing to the left, while Tom, a 7-year-old boy with tousled blond hair in a green shirt, crouches to the right holding a small tinkling green shell; a small silver fish with a red ribbon on its fin splashes near the shore; scene set on a small sandy island with a large gray rock behind the chest, strange azure plants and bright green palms under a pale pastel sky, soft light, warm watercolor tones and gentle splashes. report a problem with this image

Captain Ben had a small ship. He had a big hat and a warm smile. He loved the sea. He loved his crew. Each day they sang and worked. Each night they slept under soft stars.

One sun day, the sea was calm. A bright map floated to the ship. It had a red dot. The crew looked. "Treasure?" said Ana. "Maybe," said Ben. He smiled. He held the map close. He knew the map could help them.

They sailed with a song. The wind was kind. Birds flew near. Ben pointed to the dot. "We go there," he said. The ship rocked. The crew laughed. All felt safe.

Soon they saw a small isle. It had sand and green trees. They jumped to shore. They walked slow. Ben led with a gentle step. He looked at the map. The dot was under a big rock by a blue plant. The crew ran to the rock. It was heavy. They pushed. The rock moved a bit. Ben thought. He sat down. He breathed in. He found a long stick. He used the stick. The rock rolled. Under it was a small chest.

The chest was light. The lid was old. Ben opened it. Inside were bright shells and a soft cloth. The cloth held a note. The note had simple words. "Share," it said. Ben smiled. He felt warm. He called his friends. He gave each one a shell. Ana got a blue shell. Tom got a green shell. Each shell made a small bell ring. The sound was sweet.

They heard a little splash. A tiny fish was near. It had a ribbon on its fin. The fish seemed lost. Ben gently picked up the ribbon. It fit the flag on their ship. He tied the ribbon there. The fish swam in a happy loop. All clapped. No one was sad.

They sailed home with soft wind. The crew sang a new song. Ben looked at the sea. He felt proud. He felt kind. He had been brave. He had been smart. He had been gentle. The crew was close.

The little treasure was small, but the day felt big and warm.

Kind hearts and calm work bring joy to all.
