Max and Leo were best friends. They lived in a small, cozy cottage near a big, friendly forest. Autumn was here, and the forest was full of new colors.
"Look, Max, look!" said Leo. "Leaves are red, yellow, and orange!"
"Yes, Leo," said Max. "They are so pretty. Let's pick some for Mum!"
Max and Leo wore warm jackets. They walked into the forest. Crunch, crunch went the leaves under their feet.
"Crunchy leaves!" said Leo, giggling. "I like them!"
Max and Leo saw a squirrel. The squirrel was busy finding nuts.
"Squirrel is working hard," said Max. "Winter is coming!"
"Yes," said Leo. "We help too!"
They picked up leaves. They found acorns and pinecones. Every find was special and fun.
"Mum will like these," said Max.
"Yes," said Leo. "For Mum!"
After their walk, Max and Leo went back home. Mum was waiting with warm apple cider.
"Did you have fun?" asked Mum.
"Yes!" said Max. "We saw leaves and squirrel!"
"And we brought treasures!" said Leo, showing Mum the leaves and pinecones.
"Wonderful!" said Mum. "Autumn is beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yes, Mum," said Max and Leo together. "Autumn is beautiful!"
And as the sun began to set, Max and Leo felt happy. They helped, they played, and they learned about autumn. The world was a cozy, wonderful place.
