"Tommy and the Dark"
One night, Tommy was in his room. The moon shone bright. The stars twinkled. But the room was dark. Tommy felt scared.
âMommy!â Tommy called.
His mommy came in. âWhat's wrong, Tommy?â she asked.
âI see shadows. They are big and scary!â Tommy said, hiding under his blanket.
Mommy smiled. âShadows are just shapes. They can't hurt you. Let's look together.â
Tommy peeked out. âOkay,â he whispered.
Mommy turned on the nightlight. âSee? It's not so dark now,â she said.
Tommy smiled a little. âYes, but what about the shadows?â
Mommy pointed. âLook! That shadow is a cat. And that one is a chair.â
Tommy giggled. âThe cat looks funny!â
âYes, it does!â said Mommy. âShadows just play tricks. They are not scary.â
Tommy felt brave. âCan we tell a story?â he asked.
âOf course!â Mommy said. âOnce upon a time, there was a brave little teddy bear. He was not afraid of the dark.â
Tommy listened closely. âWhat did he do?â
Mommy continued, âHe went on adventures! He found a star shining in the sky. The star said, âHello, Teddy! Don't be scared!'â
Tommy's eyes grew wide. âThe star talked?â
âYes! The star was friendly,â Mommy said. âIt showed Teddy how beautiful the night was.â
Tommy smiled. âI want to see the stars too!â
Mommy kissed his forehead. âYou can, Tommy. The dark can be nice.â
Tommy nodded. âI'm not scared anymore!â
âGoodnight, my brave boy,â Mommy said, turning off the nightlight.
âGoodnight, Mommy!â Tommy whispered, feeling safe and happy.
