On a sunny autumn day, a little boy named Max woke up. The leaves outside were bright orange and gold. Max looked out the window and smiled. "It's autumn!" he said.
Max rushed to the kitchen. "Mommy, can we pick apples today?" he asked. Mommy smiled. "Yes, Max! Let's go to the orchard!"
Max grabbed his tiny basket. "I'm ready! Let's go!" he cheered. They walked to the orchard together. The air was cool and fresh. Max saw big, round apples hanging from the trees. Some were red, some were green.
“Look at this one!” Max said, holding up a shiny red apple. “Can I pick it?”
“Of course!” Mommy replied. “Pick as many as you can!”
Max reached up high and picked apples. “One, two, three!” he counted. The basket filled up with apples. “So many apples!” Max giggled.
After picking, they went back home. “What can we make with our apples?” Max asked.
Mommy thought for a moment. “How about apple pie?” she said with a smile.
“Yay! Apple pie!” Max shouted. They washed the apples together. “Splash, splash!” Max giggled as water splashed everywhere.
Mommy cut the apples. “Snip, snip, snip!” Max watched closely. “Can I help?” he asked.
“Sure, you can help mix!” Mommy said. Max mixed the sugar and cinnamon. “Swirl, swirl!” he laughed. The kitchen smelled sweet and warm.
Soon, the pie was in the oven. “It's baking!” Max said excitedly.
When the pie was ready, they took it out. “Smell the pie!” Mommy said. “Mmm, yummy!” Max clapped his hands.
They sat down together, happy and cozy. Max took a bite. “So good!” he exclaimed.
“Autumn is wonderful,” Mommy said. Max nodded. “Yes, it is!”
And they enjoyed their autumn day, full of apples and smiles.
