Four 3-year-old children stand together by a lit pine tree in a snowy courtyard in front of a small wooden house with red shutters: Mia, brown pigtails in a red coat with large buttons, stands left near the small lit tree pointing at a branch with a delighted smile; Ana, short blonde hair and a blue scarf, crouches center petting a grey kitten curled on a large striped scarf; Ben, tousled black hair and a green pompom hat, stands right holding a small wooden sled tilted forward; Sam, chestnut hair in a mustard jacket, sits on a wool rug by the door offering a plate of shared cookies to Ana and Mia. Warm golden light spills from the windows, powdery snow and swirling flakes, a decorated tree with yellow garlands, snaking footprints, joyful expressions, calm cozy atmosphere with soft blues, warm reds, fir greens and touches of gold. report a problem with this image

Snow fell soft. It went pfff pfff on the roof. Little boots went tap tap on the path. A small band of friends came out. Two girls. Two boys. They were almost three. They held hands. They smiled.

"Look!" said Mia. A tree stood in the yard. Its lights blinked blink. Bells went ding ding. The friends clapped. "Hop!" said Ben. They jumped in the snow. Plouf! Snow flew like white stars.

They dressed warm. Muffy the scarf wrapped round. Buttons clicked. Toc-toc went the sled at the gate. They slid down a tiny hill. Whee! Laughter flew up like birds.

At the house, Mama put out cookies. The smell was warm and sweet. The friends sat on a big mat. "One for you," said Sam. He gave a cookie to Ana. They shared with a smile. Little hands wiped crumbs. All was gentle and calm.

Outside, a small light shone. It was a tiny star on a branch. The friends made a wish. "We wish for hugs," whispered Mia. The star twinkled. It felt like a soft kiss on the cheek. The snow gleamed like sugar.

A small kitten came by. It shook its paws. It made a tiny meow. The friends giggled. "Hello," said Ana. She petted the kitten. The kitten purred mmm. It curled on Muffy the scarf. All felt cozy.

Night came slow and kind. Lights twinkled in the window. The friends held hands and walked inside. Mama put on warm cocoa. They drank sip sip. Eyes blinked. Little heads sank on soft pillows.

They dreamed of light and songs. They woke with the sun and hugged again. All was safe. All was bright.

A warm heart and a small sharing can make a little Christmas big.
