Lily was two. Lily held a red balloon. She walked into the circus with Mama. Music went “tum tum tum.” Lights went “twinkle!”
A clown waved. “Hi, Lily!” said the clown.
“Hi!” said Lily. She giggled.
In the big ring, a little dog jumped. “Hop!” said the dog. The crowd said, “Ooooh!”
Lily clapped. “More!”
Behind the curtain, Lily peeked. A tiny hat sat on a chair. It was too tiny. It was a mouse hat!
A small mouse popped up. It wore the tiny hat. It held a tiny broom. “Sweep, sweep,” said the mouse.
Lily laughed. “Hello, Mouse!”
“Hello, Lily,” said the mouse. “Want a magic job?”
Lily nodded.
The mouse gave Lily a star wand. It was soft. Lily waved it. “Swish!”
Poof! A long scarf slid out of a drum. It slid and slid. It tickled Lily's toes. “Hahaha!” said Lily.
Then—plop!—the scarf landed on the clown's nose. The clown went “ACHOO!” and the scarf flew up like a silly snake.
The crowd said, “Ooooh!” then “Hahaha!”
Mama hugged Lily. “You made the magic,” Mama said.
Lily waved to the mouse. The mouse bowed. The band played “ta-da!”
Kind hands and happy laughs make every little mix-up feel like magic.
