A black crow named Corin woke in a soft nest. He shook his wings. The sun was warm. He flew low to the pond. There sat Mina the mouse and Bram the frog. They looked at a small boat. "Help," said Mina. "It is stuck," said Bram.
Corin hopped down. He looked at the boat. It was light. He gave a tug. It did not move. Corin asked a bee to try. The bee buzzed and slipped. Corin thought. He pulled with his beak. Then he held the boat with his feet. Mina pushed. Bram pushed. The boat slid free with a pop. All three cheered.
They sailed a short way. They sang a soft song. A breeze made them sway. Corin kept them calm. He watched the sky. He found the best path back. On shore they met an old deer. She smiled and shared a sweet pear. They sat and ate. Night came slow and kind.
Corin felt warm inside. He loved to help. His friends loved him. They all went home safe. Corin tucked into his nest and smiled.
Kind acts and calm hearts make days bright.
