Roo the Rooster lived by a green wood. He had red, bright feathers. He sang a warm song in the sun. He hummed a soft tune at dusk. He was kind. He was brave in a small way.
One calm day, Roo heard a tiny ring. It came from the fairy bridge by the brook. The bell there was gone from its hook. At night the bell made a gentle ring there. Friends used the sound to walk home slow.
Roo called, "Friends, come, please!" Bunny came with happy hops. Mouse came with quick little steps. Owl came with wide, wise eyes. "We will help," said Bunny. "We will see," said Owl.
They looked near a bush. They looked under a stone. They looked in tall grass. The grass gave Roo a tickle. He gave a small laugh. Mouse squeaked, "I hear a ring!" The bell lay in a snug hole. A thin string held it tight.
Roo stood still and calm. Bunny held the string with soft paws. Mouse nibbled one bit. Owl said, "Slow and steady." The string came free at once. No one fell. No one bumped hard. They all smiled.
They took the bell to the bridge. Roo sang a sweet note. The bell rang with a soft ding. Fireflies drifted home. The brook made light pings. All felt safe. All felt glad. Night came cozy and kind.
Be kind and brave, and share your help with friends.
