A little boy sits on a soft mat. He is one year old. He smiles. He waves. "Hi," he says. A small friend comes by. It is a round cat toy. The cat toy is blue. It says "purr purr" in soft sound.
The boy bangs a small drum. Toc-toc. He laughs. The friend taps the drum too. Hop! The drum makes a kind sound. The toys play. They pass a ball. Roll, roll. Plouf! The ball stops by a box.
The boy looks. He pulls the ball out. He gives the ball to the friend. The friend gives a small clap. "Yay," says the boy. He claps too. They smile. They sit close. They share the mat.
A small cloud toy falls. Uh-oh. The cloud is shy. It sits by a chair. The boy crawls. He takes the cloud. He shows the cloud to the cat toy. The cat toy pats the cloud. "Nice," says the cat toy. The cloud brightens. The boy giggles. Hop! Hop!
Mom comes in. She watches. She smiles. She says, "Good friends." She brings a soft cup for tea. The boy pretends to drink. Sip sip. The cat toy tilts. They pour a little pretend tea. They give a cup to the cloud. All three sip. All three say "ahh."
The sun lamp glows. The room is warm. The boy hugs the cat toy. The cat toy hugs back. The cloud cuddles in. No one is sad. Small things make them glad. They sing a slow song. La la. The song is soft. The song is calm.
Night draws near. A soft blanket comes out. The boy tucks in the toys. He pats each head. "Night," he says. He yawns. The toys are safe. They sleep close. The boy sleeps too. He dreams of more play.
Friends help. Friends share. Friends keep each other warm.
