Mia goes to school. Mia is happy. Mia has a blue bag. Mia has a red cup. Mia smiles.

“Hello!” says Mia. “Hello!” says Teacher. Mia sits on the mat.

Mia looks around. She sees many children. Some are big. Some are small. Some have brown hair. Some have black hair. Some have curly hair. Some have straight hair. Mia is shy. Mia hugs her bear. Mia waits.

A new friend comes. Her name is Hana. Hana has a yellow dress. Hana has a green hat. Hana smiles. “Hi,” says Hana. “Hi,” says Mia. They look at each other.

Hana sits next to Mia. Hana has a yellow cup. Mia has a red cup. Mia and Hana look at their cups. “My cup is red,” says Mia. “My cup is yellow,” says Hana. They giggle.

Snack time comes. Mia eats an apple. Hana eats a banana. “Yum,” says Mia. “Yum,” says Hana. Mia gives a piece of apple. Hana gives a piece of banana. They share. They laugh.

Playtime now. Mia likes blocks. Hana likes cars. “Want to play with me?” asks Mia. “Yes,” says Hana. They build a road. Mia puts a block. Hana drives a car. Together, they make a long road. “Wow!” they say together.

A ball rolls close. Another child wants to play. Mia says, “Come play with us!” Hana smiles. “Yes, come!” Now, three friends play. They laugh and clap.

Sometimes, Mia and Hana want different things. Mia wants to draw. Hana wants to dance. Mia says, “You draw, I dance. Then we swap!” Hana nods. They try, they smile.

When the day ends, Mia hugs Hana. “See you soon!” says Mia. “See you!” says Hana. They wave.

Mia feels warm. Mia feels happy. Friends are special. Friends are kind. Friends can be different. Friends make school fun.
