Milo the little rabbit wakes up in his warm den. The sun peeks in. Milo wiggles his nose. He hops out. He knows today is a play day.
Milo meets Pippa the small bird by the big oak. "Hello," says Milo. "Hello," says Pippa. They smile. They like each other. They like to share.
They find a soft leaf. Milo picks it up. Pippa helps. They carry the leaf to a quiet spot. They make a small bed. They make a tiny drum with a stick. They tap and sing. Tap, tap. Sing, sing. They laugh.
A slow turtle comes by. "Can I join?" he asks. Milo and Pippa nod. They make room. They make a new game. They roll a tiny ball with a leaf. The turtle rolls with his slow shell. The bird flaps and claps. The rabbit hops and cheers. They cheer together. They help each other. They share the ball. They take turns.
A light wind blows. The ball rolls to a puddle. It gets wet. Pippa looks sad. Milo finds another small ball. Milo gives it to Pippa. "Thank you," she sings. The turtle smiles. They make the wet ball dry. They pat it with leaves. They take care. All is calm.
When the sun goes low, the friends sit close. They count the bright bugs. One, two, three. They whisper soft words. They tell each one what they like in the other. "You are kind," says the turtle. "You are fun," says Pippa. "You are brave," says Milo. They hug with paws and wings and shell.
The moon shines. Milo walks Pippa to her nest in the oak. He helps the turtle find his rock home. They say, "Good night." They feel warm. The day was soft. The day was full of care.
Milo closes his eyes in his den and thinks of his friends. Friendship grows with small acts of help, play, and kind words.
A good friend is made with small kind acts every day.
