Chapter 1: Worry in the Morning

Sunny the small dragon opened his big yellow eyes as the sun peeked into his window. He wiggled his tail and yawned, ready for another fun day in Dragon Hollow. Birds sang outside, and the air smelled of wildflowers.

But something felt different today. Sunny remembered what he had heard on the radio the night before. There had been talk about a faraway place, where people were not getting along. They were having a war, the radio said. War was a word Sunny did not know well, but it sounded scary. He wondered, “What if a war comes here to Dragon Hollow?”

Downstairs, Sunny's mother was making breakfast. She poured golden honey over a stack of pancakes.

Sunny sat at the table, fidgeting with his fork. “Mum,” he said quietly, “what is a war?”

His mother paused and looked at him kindly. “War is when groups have a very big fight because they cannot agree. It is a very serious kind of argument, and it often makes people sad and scared.”

Sunny's tail drooped. “Could it happen here?”

His mother hugged him. “It is very unlikely, Sunny. We all work hard to live peacefully and follow the rules that keep us safe and happy.”

Sunny nodded but still felt a small worry inside. He decided to talk to his friends, hoping they could help him understand more.

Chapter 2: Questions in the Park

After breakfast, Sunny met his best friends, Poppy the squirrel and Pip the fox, at the big oak tree in the park. They liked to climb and play under its wide branches.

Sunny asked, “Do you know what war means?”

Poppy twitched her whiskers. “Isn't it just a super big fight?”

“I think so,” said Pip, “but why do wars start at all?”

Sunny remembered his mother's words. “When people can't agree and don't listen to each other, they argue so much that it turns into fighting.”

The three friends sat quietly, thinking about it.

Poppy said, “We have little arguments sometimes. Like when we want the same nut. But we never have a war.”

Pip nodded. “That's because we talk about it. Sometimes we take turns. Or we ask each other how we feel.”

Sunny began to feel a bit lighter. Maybe big arguments could be solved the way little ones were.

Just then, a group of younger critters started arguing over a ball. Voices grew loud and faces grew red. Sunny watched, worried that this small argument could get much bigger.

Chapter 3: A Lesson in the Playground

Sunny walked over calmly and asked, “What's happening?”

The little ones all started talking at once. No one listened, and the arguing grew louder. Sunny remembered what his mother had said about listening. He took a deep breath.

“One at a time,” he said gently. “Please tell me what's wrong.” The little creatures quieted down. They explained that everyone wanted to play with the ball at the same time. Some felt left out, others felt nobody cared about the rules.

Sunny nodded. “Let's use the friendship stick. The friendship stick was a smooth branch that only the friend holding it could speak. It helped everyone listen and wait for their turn.

Soon, everyone had said what they felt. Some of the creatures wanted to share, others wanted to take turns, and some just wanted the game to be fair.

Sunny smiled. “If we all follow the playground rules, and listen to each other, we can play together. What do you think?”

After a bit of thinking, everyone agreed. They took turns with the ball, and laughter filled the air again.

Poppy said, “See? When we talk and listen, even big feelings can get smaller.”

Sunny agreed. He could see how rules and respect made everyone feel safer and happier.

Chapter 4: Talking to the Elders

Later that afternoon, the three friends visited Elder Willow, the wise old tree, who had seen many seasons and knew a lot about the world.

Sunny asked, “Why are rules so important? Do they really stop big problems like wars?”

Elder Willow's leaves rustled gently. “Rules are like the lines on a path. They help us know how to walk together, so we do not bump into each other. When we respect each other and listen, we keep the peace. When someone breaks the rules and doesn't care about others, that's when trouble starts.”

Pip asked, “But what if someone feels angry even when there are rules?”

Elder Willow replied, “That is normal. Everyone gets upset. But when we feel that way, we should talk calmly and listen to how others feel. Then, we can find ways to solve problems together.”

Sunny felt his worry melt a little more. He understood now that peace was something everyone could help with, every day, by listening, sharing, and following the rules.

Chapter 5: Hope at Sunset

As the sun began to set, Sunny sat with his friends on a log, watching the sky turn orange and pink. He thought about everything he had learned.

Sometimes, the world felt big and confusing. Sometimes, there were words like “war” that made him feel scared. But he had seen how small problems could be solved with kindness, listening, and respect. He knew rules were not just for games—they were for helping everyone live together peacefully.

Sunny squeezed his friends' paws. “Let's promise to always talk about our feelings and listen to each other. That way, Dragon Hollow can stay peaceful.”

Poppy grinned. “Agreed. And if we ever have a big problem, we'll solve it together.”

Pip added, “With a bit of help from grown-ups and friends too.”

As the first stars twinkled above, Sunny saw that every tiny act—a gentle word, a shared smile, a fair turn—was like a pebble thrown in a pond. The ripples could spread out and make the world a kinder place.

Sunny knew he could not stop every sad thing far away, but he could help make his home a place of friendship and peace.

That night, as he snuggled in his bed, Sunny felt safe. He remembered that the best way to keep worries small was to talk, listen, and care for one another—a lesson he would carry with him, always.
