Little Mia has a shiny red helmet. She puts it on. She grabs her little blue skateboard. “Ready, Mia?” says Coach Sam, the champion, with a big, kind smile. Mia nods. She feels shy, but her eyes are bright. She wants to try.
The sun is warm. The skate park is full of giggles and wheels. Mia pushes her board. “Whee!” she laughs softly. Other children clap. Mia smiles, a little more.
Coach Sam kneels down. “Let's try together,” he says. Mia holds his hand. “You can do it, Mia!” says Coach Sam. Mia glides on her board. She feels happy with friends around.
Suddenly, a tall man comes. He has an old, shiny trophy. “That's not how I used to skate,” he says loudly. Mia feels small. She looks at Coach Sam.
Coach Sam says, “We skate for fun. We help each other.” The children nod. “Do you want to skate with us?” asks Mia, her voice tiny but brave.
The old champion smiles. “Yes, please.” Now everyone skates. They hold hands. They cheer, “Go, Mia! Go, friends!” Wheels roll. Laughter fills the air.
Mia feels proud. She likes to try, to play, and to share. Skateboarding is fun—together.
