The Spooky Halloween Night
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily. Lily was four years old, and she did not like Halloween. "Too spooky," she would say, shaking her head. But this Halloween was different. Lily's friend, Ben, knocked on her door.
"Come on, Lily! It's time for trick-or-treating," said Ben. He wore a silly ghost costume with lots of glitter.
Lily sighed. "I don't know, Ben. Halloween is too scary."
"It's fun! And we get candy!" Ben said, smiling wide.
Lily thought about the candy. She loved candy. "Okay," she said softly. "I will try."
The Spooky Adventure
Lily and Ben stepped out into the neighborhood. The houses were all dressed up for Halloween. One house had big, bright pumpkins with funny faces. Another house had a big, friendly skeleton waving hello.
Lily grabbed Ben's hand. "Let's go to the pumpkin house first," she said.
They walked up to the door, and Lily took a deep breath. "Trick or treat!" they both shouted.
A nice lady opened the door and gave them candy. "Wow, you two look great!" she said.
Lily smiled. "Thank you," she whispered, feeling brave.
Next, they went to the skeleton house. "Trick or treat!" they said again. A friendly man gave them more candy and winked at them.
"See, Lily?" said Ben. "These houses are not so scary. Just friendly."
The Magical Pumpkin Patch
As they walked, they spotted something new. In the middle of the street, there was a small pumpkin patch glowing with tiny lights.
"What's that, Ben?" Lily asked, her eyes big and curious.
"It's the magical pumpkin patch!" Ben exclaimed. "Let's go see it."
They ran to the pumpkins. The lights twinkled like stars, and the pumpkins had funny faces that made Lily giggle.
"Wow," said Lily. "This is so pretty!"
Just then, one of the pumpkins spoke. "Happy Halloween, little ones!"
Lily gasped but then laughed. "You can talk?"
"Only on Halloween night!" the pumpkin said with a wink. "Do not be afraid. Halloween is for fun and magic."
Lily's heart felt warm. "I like Halloween now," she said.
Ben smiled. "See? Halloween is not so spooky after all."
With their bags full of candy and hearts full of magic, Lily and Ben walked back home. Lily waved goodbye to the friendly pumpkin.
"Goodbye, little friends!" called the pumpkin. "See you next Halloween!"
Lily giggled, holding Ben's hand. "I can't wait for next Halloween," she said happily. And with that, Lily knew Halloween was not so scary, but full of joy and wonder.
