Liam is a little boy, just one year old. It's summer! The sun is warm and the sky is blue. Liam loves the summer.
Liam's mommy takes him to the community garden. The garden is big and green. There are flowers and trees. Liam sees many colors—red, yellow, pink, and green.
"Wow!" says Liam. He claps his hands. Mommy smiles.
Liam sees Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown is at the garden. He is nice. Mr. Brown waves and says, "Hello, Liam! Hello, Mommy!"
"Hello, Mr. Brown," says Mommy.
Mr. Brown has a big hat. He has a big watering can. "Do you want to help, Liam?" he asks.
Liam nods. He wants to help. Helping is fun!
Mommy holds Liam's hand. They walk to Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown gives Liam a small watering can. It is just right for Liam.
"Let's water the flowers," says Mr. Brown. He shows Liam how to pour water. "Water helps flowers grow," he says.
Liam pours water. Splash! Splash! The flowers are happy. Liam is happy too.
"Good job, Liam!" says Mr. Brown. Mommy claps. Liam claps too.
After watering, Mr. Brown shows Liam some seeds. "These are seeds, Liam. They will grow into flowers," says Mr. Brown.
Liam looks at the seeds. They are tiny. "Wow," says Liam. He is amazed.
Mommy helps Liam plant the seeds in the soil. "We will watch them grow," says Mommy.
Liam smiles. He feels good. He feels big. He helped the garden. He helped the flowers.
The sun is still shining. The sky is blue. Liam had fun. He helped the garden, and he learned. Summer is fun!
