Once upon a time, soft snow fell. It fell slow and white. In a cozy room, two friends sat. Mia was four. Ben was four. They held warm milk. Nana smiled near the tree. The tree was green and tall. Little lights were on. The candles were small lights. They were safe and soft.
Soft snow. Ding-dong bells. Green tree. Warm candles.
"Mia, hang the bell," said Nana. Mia held a small bell. It was shiny and red. "Ben, hold the star," said Nana. Ben held a gold star. Plink-plink, a bead rolled. The bell slid under a chair. Mia looked at Ben. Ben looked at Mia. They smiled.
"It is okay," said Mia. "We can find it," said Ben. They bent down, side by side. Nana held the chair. A soft cat purred. There was the bell. Mia took it. Ben clapped.
Soft snow. Ding-dong bells. Green tree. Warm candles.
Mia hung the bell low. Ben set the star high. The bell went ding. The star shone. The room was warm and safe. "Thank you," said Nana. She gave a small cookie to each child. They broke the cookies in two. They shared and ate. They smiled.
Soft snow. Ding-dong bells. Green tree. Warm candles.
Mama and Papa waved. A small quilt came. It covered knees and toes. The cat curled close. The candles made soft glow. The bells said ding-dong, ding-dong. Mia and Ben hummed a tiny song. Their eyes grew slow. The house was calm and bright. The night was kind. "Good night, tree," said Mia. "Good night, snow," said Ben.
Be kind and help; when we share, all feel safe and warm.
