Once upon a time, on a soft Christmas Eve, there was a little girl. Her name was Lily. Lily was four.

Snow, snow, soft and slow.

Bells, bells, ding-dong low.

In the warm room, a tree stood tall. Green, green, bright and clean. Little lights blinked like tiny stars. Candles glowed, calm and gold.

Lily held a small silver bell. She loved its sound. “Ding,” said Lily. “Ding,” said the bell.

But then the bell felt quiet. No ring came out. Lily looked at it. She felt a small sad.

Mom came close. “Show me,” said Mom.

Lily put the bell in Mom's hand. Mom shook it. A soft bit of fluff fell out. “Oh,” said Mom. “Just fluff.”

Dad brought a small brush. He brushed, brush, brush. The bell got clean. Lily shook it.

“Ding!” said the bell.

“Ding!” said Lily.

Snow, snow, soft and slow.

Bells, bells, ding-dong low.

Lily sat by the tree. She put the bell on a low branch. It shone near a red ball and a gold star. The room smelled like sweet spice. The candles made warm pools of light.

Lily yawned. Mom hugged her. Dad hummed a quiet tune. Outside, snow fell. Inside, all was still.

Moral: Small kind help can make a small sad turn into a warm joy.
