Lily loved to play. She loved to laugh. One sunny morning, Lily went to the park with her mom. The park was big and green. There were swings and slides. The flowers were bright. The birds sang sweet songs.

“Look, Lily!” said Mom. “A new friend!”

Lily saw a little boy. He was playing with a red ball. “Hi!” said Lily, waving her hand.

“Hi!” said the boy. “I'm Sam! Do you want to play?”

“Yes!” laughed Lily. She ran to Sam. They kicked the ball. Kick, kick! The ball rolled away. They ran after it.

“Catch it!” shouted Sam. Lily giggled. They caught the ball together. “We are good friends!” said Lily.

“Yeah!” said Sam. “Let's play again!”

Lily and Sam played tag. “You can't catch me!” shouted Lily, running fast. Sam laughed and chased her. They ran and ran. They were happy.

After playing, they sat under a big tree. “I like your red ball,” said Lily.

“Thank you! I like your smile,” said Sam.

“Friends share!” said Lily. They shared the ball. They shared their snacks too—yummy cookies!

Lily and Sam smiled big. “Let's play again tomorrow!” said Sam.

“Yes! Friends forever!” said Lily.

The sun began to set. It was time to go home. Lily waved goodbye. “See you soon, Sam!”

“Bye, Lily!” Sam waved back.

Lily felt warm inside. Friends are special. Friends make fun times. Friends make happy hearts.
