A 2-year-old boy with a round face, rosy cheeks and light brown wisps of hair, wearing a serene, amazed expression and holding a beige teddy, looks up at a pastel pink-and-blue sky where a small yellow-and-blue bird flies above him; his mother, about 28, brown hair tied, smiles gently with a hand on his shoulder, standing slightly behind to his right; the ground has soft green grass, a few round stones and a drifting orange leaf; pale stars begin to twinkle; calm, bright scene, warm colors, clear outlines in a soft, toddler-friendly comic style. report a problem with this image

A small boy sits. He is one year old. He watches the sky. The sky is soft like a warm cloth. He pats a toy bear. "Tap tap," he says. Toc-toc, hop.

A little bird comes. It sings, "Tweet." The boy listens. He points. The bird spins like a tiny sun. The boy claps. "Clap clap," he laughs. Plouf of joy.

The boy walks slow with a parent hand. The world is big and kind. A pebble is small and brave. The parent says, "Look." The boy looks. He sees a leaf sail. The leaf tells no words. It moves and plays.

The boy asks with his eyes. Who am I? The sky winks. The bird laughs. The pebble stays small and true. The leaf flies free. The boy feels soft in his chest. He hugs the bear tight.

Night comes. Stars blink like tiny lamps. The parent sings a song. "La la," the boy hums. The bird is safe. The pebble is home. The leaf sleeps on the ground. The boy yawns. His eyes close like two little doors.

All is calm. All is near. All is warm.

The boy dreams of small suns and kind leaves. He wakes to a new day. He learns that life is to look, to love, and to move gently.

A gentle heart makes the world bright.
