Lily wakes up. Sun is soft. She hops out of bed. She sees her red shoe. It is not a shoe. It is a cup! "No," she laughs. "It is a shoe-cup!" Her friend Tom peeks in. He says, "Good cup!" They giggle.
They go to the park. A ball rolls. It is not one ball. It is three balls. One ball is shy. One ball is loud. One ball is sleepy. Lily taps the shy ball. "Hello," she says. The shy ball rolls away. Tom chases. They run slow. They run fast. They stop. They laugh.
A kite gets stuck in a tree. "Oh," says Lily. They try to pull. The kite says, "Tickle!" It makes leaves laugh. A squirrel joins. The squirrel brings a tiny rope. "Thank you," says Lily. Tom ties the kite. The kite flies up and waves like a hand.
They share a snack. The snack is crunchy. The snack is sweet. They share one bite, then another. They share a song. They sing low. They sing soft. The sun goes down. They yawn. They walk home, hand in hand, calm and glad.
Sharing makes play bright and warm.
