Chapter 1: A Special Day
It was Toby's birthday. Toby was three years old today. But Toby felt a bit sad. "Oh dear," he said. "It's my birthday, but it feels just like any other day."
"Don't worry, Toby," said Lily, his best friend. Lily was also three and had bright, curly hair. She loved to smile and make Toby laugh. "Let's go to the park," she suggested.
Toby and Lily went to the park with their friends Max and Bella. Max used a cool red wheelchair to zoom around. "I can go super fast!" Max always said. Bella was shy and loved to sing.
As they walked to the park, the birds sang a happy tune. "Tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet," the birds said. "It's a special day for Toby!"
Toby smiled a little. That was a nice song.
Chapter 2: Surprises at the Park
When they reached the park, it was full of sunshine and flowers. The grass was green and soft. Toby's friends had a surprise.
"Surprise, Toby!" said Max, spinning in his wheelchair. "We have games for you."
"Yes!" said Bella, clapping her hands. "Fun games!"
The first game was a treasure hunt. Lily hid colorful stones in the grass. Max hid a shiny yellow ball under a tree. Bella sang a clue: "Find the shiny, find it quick. It's under the tree, go have a peek!"
Toby giggled and found the yellow ball. "I found it!" he cheered. "This is fun!"
Next, they played a balloon game. Each friend had a big, bright balloon. Toby's balloon was blue, like the sky. They bounced the balloons up, up, up into the air. They laughed as the balloons floated back down. "Catch the balloon!" they shouted.
Toby felt his sadness float away, like the balloons in the sky.
Chapter 3: Happy Birthday, Toby!
After the games, Toby's friends had another surprise. Lily brought out a small, delicious cake with one, two, three candles on top. "Happy birthday, Toby!" they sang together.
Toby's eyes were big and round with surprise. "Cake!" he said. "Yummy!"
Max gave Toby a gentle nudge with his wheelchair. "Go ahead, Toby. Make a wish!"
Toby thought for a moment. Then he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and blew out the candles. "Whoosh!"
"What did you wish for, Toby?" asked Bella, curiously.
Toby smiled a big, happy smile. "I wished for more fun days like today, with my friends!"
"That's the best wish," Lily said. She gave Toby a hug and Toby hugged her back.
As they sat in the park, eating cake and giggling together, Toby felt warm and happy. His birthday was special after all, and it was because of his wonderful friends.
The sun began to set, painting the sky in orange and pink. The children watched the colors and held hands. Toby looked at his friends and knew that birthdays are special because they are shared.
And that's how Toby's birthday ended, full of smiles, laughter, and the joy of friendship.
