Under the tree, a tiny elf in a red hat waved. “Hello, Sam!” said the elf. “Let's play!”

Sam giggled. “What game?” “Follow the shiny lights!” said the elf. Sam followed. He found candy canes in his shoe. “Hee hee hee!” said the elf. He found sparkly stars on his chair. “Hee hee hee!” said the elf.

Sam laughed. “You are silly, Elf!” The elf winked. “I want Christmas to be fun!” Sam clapped. “Thank you, Elf!”

“Happy Christmas, Sam!” whispered the elf, and Sam felt happy and warm.
