A mischievous Christmas elf with a round face, bright eyes, and a sly smile, wearing a pointed red hat and green jacket, stands on tiptoe placing a small golden star atop a mini tree; to the elf's left a floppy-eared plush dog holds a shiny bell in its mouth, a gray tabby cat sleeps curled on a red stocking by the tree with a paw on it, and a bundled child sleeps peacefully to the right clutching a brown teddy bear while snow falls outside a frosted window; the wooden Christmas shop background has painted toy shelves, warm yellow garlands, a snowy street and soft lamplight, creating a tender nighttime scene with warm colors, soft contrasts and moonlight silvering the snow. report a problem with this image

Fox was small and soft. He wore a red hat. He smiled. He loved snow. He loved night. He loved the hush of the town on soft snow.

Fox was the Christmas prank elf. He moved on tip toe. He did kind tricks. He did fun tricks. He did them with love.

One night he saw lights. He saw kids sleep. He saw a tree in a shop. The tree had a star. Fox wished to play.

He sniffed the air. He found a bell. He found a sock. He found a small drum. He picked them with care. He did not take things. He only made a small joke.

Fox tapped the bell. Ring, ring. A dog woke and wagged. The dog found the bell and ran to its bed. Fox laughed low. He left the bell by the bed. "Good dog," he said.

Fox tied a sock to a toy. The toy walked and bump. The cat woke and purred. The cat found the sock and curled up. Fox smiled. He put the sock on the cat like a hat. "So warm," he said.

Fox rolled the drum. Boom, boom. A child turned and giggled. The child hugged a bear and slept. Fox hummed a soft song. He placed a star on the small tree. The star shone bright and sweet.

Fox made a trail of crumbs to a coat. Mrs. Bell found them and smiled. She found a note that said, "A small fun for you." She left a cup of milk by the door. Fox drank a drop and wiped his beard.

He tucked a mitten on a sled. The sled slid a tiny bit. The moon watched. The moon winked. Fox felt warm in his heart.

All the town woke slow and happy. No one was sad. Each trick had a hug to fix it. Each laugh had a soft heal.

At dawn Fox sat by a lamp. He felt calm. He felt full of joy. He put his red hat on straight. He waved with his paw. He walked away in soft snow.

A kind prank is a warm hug in a night of stars.
