The Scaredy Fox

In a sunny forest full of tall trees and colorful flowers, there lived a little fox named Felix. Felix had bright orange fur and a fluffy tail that swished back and forth when he was happy. But today, Felix was not happy. He was feeling a little scared.

Felix sat under a big green tree, watching the birds flying high in the blue sky. "I want to play," he said, "but I'm scared of the big dog in the forest."

Felix's friend, Ruby the rabbit, hopped over to him. "Hi, Felix!" she chirped. "Why are you sitting here all alone?"

"I want to play, Ruby," Felix sighed, "but I am scared of the big dog in the forest. He barks so loudly!"

Ruby smiled softly. "I understand, Felix. Dogs can be scary, but not all are mean," she said. "Do you want to learn how to feel better?"

Felix nodded. "Yes, please," he said, his ears perking up a little.

Feeling Brave

Ruby sat down next to Felix. "First," she said, "let's take a big breath together. Like this." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Now you try."

Felix took a big breath in, filling his chest with air, and then let it out slowly. "That feels nice," Felix said, smiling just a little.

"Great!" Ruby cheered. "Now, whenever you feel scared, remember to breathe like this. It helps!"

Felix nodded, feeling a bit braver. "What else can I do?" he asked.

"You can think of something happy," Ruby suggested. "Like when we play in the sun or eat yummy berries. Can you think of something happy, Felix?"

Felix closed his eyes and thought. "I like it when we play hide and seek," he said. "That makes me happy."

"Perfect!" Ruby said. "Whenever you feel scared, think about playing hide and seek. It will make you feel better."

Felix smiled bigger now. "Thank you, Ruby," he said. "I feel a little better already."

Facing the Dog

The next day, Felix and Ruby decided to play near the forest path. Felix remembered to take deep breaths and think happy thoughts. He felt brave.

As they played, the big dog came trotting down the path. Felix's heart went thump-thump, but he took a deep breath like Ruby showed him. The dog barked, but Felix remembered playing hide and seek. He smiled and felt a bit brave inside.

The dog stopped and wagged his tail. "Hello," he said. "I'm Max. Do you want to play?"

Felix looked at Ruby, and she nodded. "Hello, Max," Felix said. "I'm Felix. Can we play nice?"

Max nodded, and they all started to play together. Felix was not scared anymore. He was happy and brave.

That day, Felix learned that even when things seem scary, he could feel better with a little help from his friend. And Felix felt proud of himself for being brave. From then on, the sunny forest felt like the happiest place in the world for Felix, Ruby, and Max.
