Chapter 1: The First Day at Daisy Room

Mia and Lily were best friends. Mia had brown hair, and Lily had curly hair. They liked to play together with their soft teddy bears. Mia loved her mummy and daddy very much. Lily loved her mummy and daddy too.

One sunny morning, Mia and Lily were going to Daisy Room. Daisy Room was a happy place for little children. It was a place to play, sing, and make pictures. But it was also a new place, and today was the very first day.

Mia held her mummy's hand very tight. She did not want to let go. “Mummy, can you stay with me?” Mia asked with a small, worried voice.

Her mummy knelt down. “Mia, I will come back for you very soon. You will have fun with Lily and your teachers,” her mummy said gently.

Lily stood close to her mummy, holding her hand too. She looked at Mia. Mia looked at Lily. Their tummies felt funny and wobbly.

“It's okay, Mia,” whispered Lily. “We are together.”

Mia nodded, but she still felt scared. She did not want her mummy to go. She wanted to stay with her mummy and daddy all day.

A teacher with a kind smile came to say hello. “Good morning, Mia. Good morning, Lily,” she said softly. “We have lots of toys and games here. Would you like to see the soft blocks?”

Mia looked at Lily. Lily gave a little smile. The two friends walked with their teacher to the soft blocks. Their mummies waved goodbye. Mia felt a little tear in her eye. She wanted her mummy.

Chapter 2: A Day of Little Steps

Mia sat on the soft mat with Lily. The blocks were bright red, blue and yellow. Mia picked up a red block. Lily picked up a yellow one.

“Let's build a tower,” said Lily.

“Yes,” said Mia, her voice still very small.

They made a tower together. The blocks went up, up, up! Then the tower fell down with a gentle thump.

Mia giggled. Lily giggled too. The teacher smiled. “That was a tall tower, girls. Would you like to build it again?” she asked.

Mia nodded. She was still thinking about her mummy, but she was also having a little bit of fun.

Later, they sat in a circle. The teacher sang a song about sunshine and rainbows. Mia liked singing. She sang softly with Lily. The teacher clapped. “Lovely singing, Mia and Lily!”

At snack time, Mia ate a little banana. Lily ate a banana too. They drank water from small cups. “I miss my mummy,” Mia whispered.

Lily nodded. “I miss my mummy too. But we can play together. And our mummies will come back.”

The teacher heard them. She sat beside Mia and Lily. “It's okay to miss your mummy,” she said. “She loves you very much and will come back when the day is done. Right now, you can play and have fun with your friend. Would you like to draw a picture for your mummy?”

Mia's eyes got big. “Yes, please!” Mia said.

Chapter 3: The End of the Day

Mia and Lily sat at a little table. They drew big smiles and sunny skies for their mummies. They used bright crayons—red, blue, and yellow.

“Look, Lily! My drawing is for my mummy,” Mia said.

“Mine is for my mummy too,” Lily said, showing her picture.

The day went by. They played with dolls, listened to a story, and danced in a circle. Mia laughed. Lily laughed. They held hands when they felt a little scared.

Soon, their mummies came back. Mia ran to her mummy and gave her a big hug. Lily ran to her mummy too.

“I missed you, Mummy,” Mia said.

“I missed you too, Mia. I am so proud of you!” her mummy said.

Mia smiled. She gave her mummy the picture she made. “This is for you, Mummy!”

Her mummy smiled. “Thank you, Mia. I love it very much.”

Lily gave her picture to her mummy too. Everyone was happy.

Mia felt brave. She still loved her mummy and daddy. But now she knew she could have fun, even when they were not there. She could play with Lily and make new friends. And at the end of every day, her mummy always came back.

Mia looked at Lily. “We did it! We were very brave.”

“Yes, we were very brave,” said Lily.

And they smiled, feeling warm and happy inside.
