Chapter 1: A New Friend
Lily was a cheerful little girl with bright, sparkling eyes and a big smile. She loved to play in the park with her friends. Every day after school, she would run to the big green park where the swings swayed and the trees danced in the breeze. One sunny day, as she skipped along the path, she noticed a new girl sitting alone on a bench.
“Hi!” Lily called out, waving her hand. “My name is Lily! What's your name?”
The new girl looked up. She had soft brown hair and a shy smile. “I'm Mia,” she said quietly.
“Do you want to play with us?” Lily asked happily. “We are going to play on the swings!”
Mia shook her head. “I can't. I don't know how to swing well,” she said, looking down at her shoes.
“Oh, that's okay!” Lily replied. “I can help you! It's fun to learn together!”
Mia smiled a little. “Really?”
“Yes! Come on!” Lily said, holding out her hand.
Chapter 2: Learning Together
Lily and Mia walked over to the swings. The other children were already playing, laughing, and shouting with joy. “Look! I brought a friend!” Lily announced.
The children turned and waved. “Hi, Mia!” they said.
“Do you know how to swing?” asked Tom, one of the kids.
Mia shook her head again. “No, but I want to learn,” she said softly.
“Don't worry! We can show you!” said Lily with excitement. “It's easy! Just hold on tight!”
So, they all helped Mia onto the swing. Lily pushed her gently. “See? It's like flying!” she cheered.
Mia giggled as she went up high. “I like this!” she said, her eyes shining.
They took turns pushing her, and soon Mia was swinging all by herself. “I did it! I can swing!” she laughed.
Lily clapped her hands. “Yay! You're a great swinger, Mia!”
Mia felt happy and proud. She loved swinging with her new friends.
Chapter 3: A Different Snack
After swinging, the friends decided to take a break. They sat on the grass, and everyone pulled out their snacks. Lily had apple slices, Tom had cookies, and Sarah had a sandwich.
Mia reached into her bag and pulled out something different. “I have rice balls,” she said, holding them up. They were round and sticky.
“What are those?” asked Sarah, looking curious.
“They're rice balls! My mom makes them,” Mia explained. “They have fish in them.”
“Fish? Yuck!” Tom said, wrinkling his nose.
“Why don't you try them?” Mia asked, looking a bit sad.
“I don't like fish!” Tom replied quickly.
Lily thought for a moment. “Maybe we could all try something different! I will try a rice ball!” she said, reaching for one.
“Really?” Mia's eyes lit up.
“Yes! I want to taste your food!” Lily said, taking a small bite. “Mmm! It's yummy!”
“Can I try your cookie?” Mia asked shyly.
“Sure!” said Tom, handing her a cookie. “It's sweet!”
Mia took a bite and smiled. “I like this too!”
Soon, everyone was sharing their snacks. They laughed and discovered that trying new things was fun. They learned that even though they were different, they could still enjoy each other's food.
Chapter 4: Friends Forever
As the sun began to set, it was time to go home. Lily, Mia, Tom, and Sarah gathered together. “Today was so much fun,” Lily said, beaming. “I'm glad we all tried new things!”
Mia nodded excitedly. “I made new friends today!”
“Me too!” Tom added. “And I learned that rice balls can be good!”
They all laughed. “Let's promise to play together again tomorrow!” Sarah suggested.
“Okay!” they all shouted.
From that day on, they played together every day. They learned more about each other's lives, likes, and differences. They talked about their favorite games, snacks, and stories. They became a big happy group.
Lily realized that even though Mia was different, she was still just like her.
Everyone deserves to be accepted and loved, no matter their differences. Together, they showed that it's okay to be different and that it's the kindness in their hearts that makes them friends.
And whenever something new and different came along, they remembered to say, “Let's try it together!”
