Two girls sing together in a snowy village square at night, holding hands in front of a large Christmas tree decorated with gold garlands, shiny red baubles and a star; Lucy, 6, with blonde hair in two braids, a red wool coat, white pompom hat, red gloves and rosy cheeks sings with her mouth open, standing right, and Mia, 7, with a brown bob, dark green coat, striped scarf, green gloves and a small half-biscuit in her left hand stands to Lucy's left; warm lampposts and lit windows glow around them, thick snow with footprints and falling flakes surround the scene, and golden light from the garlands illuminates their joyful faces as colored musical notes seem to float in the air. report a problem with this image

Once upon a time, on a snowy Christmas Eve, two little girls named Lucy and Mia lived in a small, cozy village where the chimneys puffed out white clouds and the lanterns glowed like tiny stars. The snowflakes danced softly, twirling down from the sky, covering the world in a gentle blanket of white. Far away, church bells sang, “Ding-dong, ding-dong,” and the big Christmas tree in the square sparkled with golden lights and shiny red balls.

Lucy and Mia were best friends. They lived in houses next to each other, with windows shining warm and bright. Every night, they watched the candles flicker and listened to the sweet sound of Christmas songs floating through the cold, starry air. Lucy whispered, “Mia, let's join the Christmas choir. I want to sing with you under the twinkling tree.” Mia nodded with a giggle, her cheeks rosy as apples.

They clapped their mittened hands and skipped along the snowy path, leaving tiny footprints behind them, like pearls on a white carpet. The world was quiet, just the sound of crunch, crunch, crunch and the faint ringing of faraway bells. “Let's sing as we walk! La, la, la, snow falls down, soft and round!” sang Lucy. Mia joined in, “Jingle, jingle, little bell, Christmas time is here to tell!” Their voices floated up like gentle snowflakes.

When they reached the big Christmas tree, the choir was already there, children and grown-ups in scarves and hats. The choir leader, Mrs. Holly, smiled kindly. “Welcome, little ones. Would you like to sing with us?” Lucy and Mia nodded, their eyes as bright as candle flames.

Mrs. Holly bent down. “We all sing together. No voice is too small. When we share our song, it grows big and strong.” Lucy and Mia took each other's hands and stood in the circle, close as two gingerbread friends.

The song began, soft as the winter wind. “Round the tree, round the tree, shining lights for all to see…” sang the choir. Lucy's heart fluttered like a snowflake. She sang, “Candles glow, bells ring clear, Christmas comes, love is near.” Mia joined, her voice sweet and gentle, “Snow is falling, dreams come true, friends together, me and you.”

The choir sang louder, voices wrapping around the tree like a warm scarf. The snow outside seemed to dance to their song, and the tree's lights twinkled even brighter. Every voice was different, but together they made a beautiful melody, soft and bright like the stars above.

After the song, Mrs. Holly clapped her hands. “Thank you, Lucy and Mia. You sang with your hearts. That is the magic of Christmas.” Lucy and Mia beamed, feeling warm and proud, like two little candles shining in the night.

As the choir shared cookies and warm milk, Lucy broke her cookie in half. “Mia, let's share,” she said. Mia smiled and gave Lucy half her gingerbread star. They giggled, “Sharing is sweet, like Christmas treats!” The choir children shared, too—cookies and hugs, laughter and songs, under the gentle snowfall.

When it was time to go home, the village glowed with candlelight. Lucy and Mia walked back, hand in hand, singing their little refrain: “Snowflakes twirl, bells ring bright, Christmas brings a peaceful night.” The world felt safe and soft, like a big, cozy blanket.

They climbed into bed, listening to the faraway bells and watching the snow drift past their windows. Warm and happy, they whispered, “Merry Christmas, goodnight.” The world outside was quiet and calm, wrapped in the magic of sharing, kindness, and gentle love. And so, the night drifted by, soft as a lullaby, under the watchful glow of the Christmas tree and the peaceful twinkle of winter stars.
