Morning sun peeks in. Pip is two. Pip has a small wooden spoon. Pip calls it a wand. Pip smiles. Today feels silly and big.
“Wake up, toast,” said Pip. Pop! The toast jumps high. “Wow,” said Pip. “Good jump.” The jam jar wiggles. “Jam, hop to bread, please.” Boing! The jam hops to Pip's nose. Pip giggles. “Hello, jam.” She taps her nose. “Back to bread, please.” Plop. The jam sits on the toast. A napkin pats Pip's nose. “Thank you,” said Pip.
From a teacup, Puff peeks out. Puff is a tiny tea dragon. “I heard toast,” said Puff. Puff gives a small sneeze. A warm bubble drifts up. It kisses the cup. “Glup, glup,” sings the cup. Pip claps. “Spoon, spin.” The spoon spins one slow, happy spin. It taps. Tap, tap. It bows. “Fancy,” said Pip.
“Feet, get ready,” said Pip. Two sock knights stand up. They march. Left, right. Left, left. One sock hears “left” and goes right. Pip laughs. “Silly sock.” She gives a gentle fix. Socks land on feet with a thump of joy. “Good work,” said Pip.
The milk waves. A tiny drop climbs the rim. “Easy, milk,” said Pip. The drop slides back home. Puff sips the drop. “All tidy,” said Puff. The broom hears “brush.” The broom nods. It combs Pip's hair. Tickle, tickle. Pip laughs. “Thank you, broom.” The broom rests.
“Parade time,” said Pip. The chair bows. The table hums. The jar waves a sticky flag. The spoon drums. Tap, tap, tap. Puff wears a bubble hat. They march around the room. Step, step, spin. Everyone cheers in small sounds.
The room grows calm. Pip yawns. “Time for hush,” said Pip. “Yes,” said Puff. Bed is soft. Blanket is warm. Pip snuggles. “Good day, magic,” she whispers. The day smiles, quiet and bright.
Be gentle and say please, and small magic will smile back.
