A 2-year-old girl with a gentle smile and bright eyes, short light-brown hair under a small red hat, plays at the edge of a shallow stream holding a shiny metal cup, curious and joyful; a gray striped plush kitten with black stitched eyes sits on a nearby stone as if watching her; a vivid yellow bird with a fine beak flies above the stream toward the cup; a speckled green frog with glossy skin sits on a lily pad looking surprised and happy; the scene shows clear shallow water with small ripples, mossy round stones, short green grass and colorful wildflowers in soft sunset light, calm atmosphere, pastel colors and watercolor textures. report a problem with this image

Mia wakes up. She is three. She smiles. The sun is warm. She wears a red hat. She taps the door. "Toc-toc," she says. The toy cat purrs. "Meow," it says. Mia picks a small bag. She puts a cup and a spoon in. She is ready.

Mia walks to the hall. She sees a big pile of blocks. "Hop," she jumps. The blocks make a soft sound. Mia builds a tiny tower. She climbs on a stool. She hums a tune. The tower is a tall house. Mia peeks in. The toy cat says, "Come in." Mia nods.

Outside, the garden is like a map. The grass is green. The path is small. Mia steps slow. She holds a stick like a wand. A little bird says, "Chirp." Mia smiles. She shares a crumb. "Yum," says the bird. Mia listens. She learns the way.

Mia finds a small stream. The water goes plouf. She puts her cup in. The cup fills. She sips. The water is cool. A frog sings, "Hop, hop." Mia laughs. She claps. The frog jumps on a leaf. Mia helps the frog to a safe rock. The frog is happy.

Mia meets a box on the path. The box is shut. She tries to open. It is tight. She thinks. She looks for a friend. The toy cat pushes. "Push," it says. The bird pecks. "Peck," it says. Mia pushes with small hands. The box opens. Inside is a soft scarf. Mia wraps it on her hat. She feels warm.

The sun goes low. Mia walks home. Her bag is light. She hums. Her mother is at the door. She hugs Mia. "Hello," says her mother. Mia tells of pond and frog and bird. All smile. Mia puts the cup on the shelf. The toy cat curls up. Mia yawns.

Mia sleeps safe and calm. She dreamed of next day play.

Kind hearts and small hands can make big, kind things.
