Chapter 1: A Big Change
Once upon a time, in a cozy little house, there lived a six-year-old boy named Max. Max had bright blue eyes and a big smile. He loved playing with his toys and drawing colorful pictures. Max lived with his mom and dad, and they would often play together in the garden.
One sunny morning, Max woke up and noticed something was different. His mom and dad were sitting on the couch, looking serious. Max felt a little tingle in his tummy.
“Good morning, Max! Come sit with us,” said his mom, smiling gently.
Max walked over, a bit nervous. “What is it, Mom? Is everything okay?”
His dad took a deep breath. “Max, we need to talk about something important. Sometimes grown-ups have to make big changes. Your mom and I are going to live in different houses.”
Max blinked. “Different houses? Why?”
His mom hugged him tight. “It's not because of you, sweetie. We both love you very much. We think this is the best choice for our family.”
Max frowned. “But I want us to be together.”
“I know, buddy,” said his dad. “We can still be a family. We can share time together, and we will always love you.”
Max felt a little sad, but he nodded. “Okay. I love you both.”
Chapter 2: New Routines
The next few days were busy. Max's mom and dad packed boxes and moved things around. Max helped by putting his toys in a big box. He made sure to keep his favorite stuffed bear, Mr. Fluffy, beside him.
One evening, Max's mom sat down with him. “How do you feel about everything, Max?”
“It's different,” he said softly. “I miss you and Dad being together.”
His mom smiled kindly. “It's okay to feel that way. Let's make some new routines together! How about we have a special dinner every Friday night?”
Max's eyes brightened. “Yes! Can we have pizza?”
“Of course! And we can watch a movie after,” his mom said.
Max felt happy thinking about Friday nights. “What about Dad? Can he come too?”
“Absolutely! We'll all be together,” she said.
Max thought about how he could still see his dad. He could even draw pictures for him to keep at his new house. “Can I draw him a picture?” asked Max.
“Great idea! That's a wonderful way to share your feelings,” his mom replied.
Chapter 3: Expressing Feelings
On the next Friday, Max was excited. He helped his mom make pizza. They rolled out the dough and added lots of cheese and colorful veggies. The house smelled so good!
When Dad arrived, he brought a big smile and a hug. “Wow, that smells amazing!” he said. Max giggled, feeling happy.
After dinner, they all sat on the couch to watch a movie. Max felt warm inside because they were together.
“Can I show you my drawing?” Max asked after the movie.
“Of course! I'd love to see it,” said Dad.
Max ran to get the picture. It was a drawing of their family, with big smiles and lots of hearts. “This is us!” he said proudly.
Dad's eyes sparkled. “It's beautiful, Max! Thank you for sharing it with me.”
Max felt proud. “I want to draw more!”
“That's a great way to express how you feel,” said Mom. “You can always share your feelings with us. We are here to listen.”
Chapter 4: A Happy Heart
As the weeks went by, Max got used to the new routines. He had special times with both his mom and dad. He would have fun sleepovers at his dad's house, where they built pillow forts and played games.
One day, while playing in the garden, Max found a beautiful butterfly. It flew around him, and he thought about how butterflies go through changes too. “Just like me!” he said out loud.
He ran inside to tell his mom. “Mom! I saw a butterfly! It reminded me that changes can be good!”
His mom smiled brightly. “That's a wonderful thought, Max! Changes can help us grow and learn.”
Max nodded. “I miss the old times sometimes, but I like our new things too.”
“And that's okay,” said his mom. “It's important to have feelings, and it's okay to talk about them.”
At bedtime, Max snuggled with Mr. Fluffy. “Goodnight, Mr. Fluffy. We're going to be okay.”
As he closed his eyes, he felt safe and loved. He knew that even though things had changed, his family was still there for him—always ready to listen, to hug, and to love.
And with that thought, Max drifted off to sleep, dreaming of colorful butterflies and fun adventures with his mom and dad.
