Chapter 1: A Sunny Morning

“Wake up, Max,” said Mommy, gently rubbing Max's back.

Max opened his eyes and smiled. The sun was shining in his little room. “Is it summer holiday, Mommy?” he asked.

“Yes, Max,” said Mommy with a big smile. “No nursery today. It's summer holiday. We can have a special day together!”

Max clapped his hands. “Yay! Special day! What can we do, Mommy?”

Mommy hugged Max. “Let's put on your hat and shoes. We can go for a walk in our neighborhood. We can see what's new today.”

Max sat up. “Can I bring my red bucket?”

“Yes, Max,” said Mommy. “You can bring your red bucket.”

Max picked up his little red bucket. He liked to carry it everywhere. He put on his blue hat and his small shoes.

“Ready, Mommy!” said Max.

“Ready, Max,” said Mommy.

They opened the door and stepped outside. The sun was warm and the sky was blue. The birds were singing. Max felt happy.

Chapter 2: Exploring the Neighborhood

Max and Mommy walked down the street. “Look, Mommy! Flowers!” said Max.

“Yes, Max. The flowers are very pretty,” said Mommy.

Max bent down and smelled a yellow flower. “It smells nice, Mommy.”

Mommy smiled. “Would you like to pick one for your bucket?”

“Yes, please!” said Max. He picked a small yellow flower and put it in his bucket.

A little further, Max saw a big chalk drawing on the pavement. “Look, Mommy! Rainbows!”

Mommy nodded. “It's beautiful. Maybe other children drew it.”

Max touched the rainbow with his finger. “Can I draw too, Mommy?”

Mommy took a pink chalk from her bag. “You can draw a big sun.”

Max drew a big round sun. “Look, Mommy! I made the sun.”

“It's lovely, Max,” said Mommy.

A little girl called Anna walked by with her grandma. She smiled at Max. “Hello, Max!”

“Hello, Anna!” said Max, waving his hand.

Anna looked at Max's bucket. “What do you have in your bucket, Max?”

“I have a yellow flower,” said Max. “Do you want to find one too?”

Anna nodded. Grandma smiled. “Let's look together.”

Max and Anna looked for flowers on the grass. They found a red flower and a white flower. Max giggled. “So many colors, Anna!”

Anna laughed too. She put a red flower in Max's bucket. “Now you have two flowers, Max!”

“Thank you, Anna!” said Max.

Grandma said, “Would you like to come to the park with us?”

Mommy nodded. “That sounds nice. Let's go together.”

Chapter 3: Summer Picnic and Home Again

At the park, Max, Anna, Mommy, and Grandma sat on a big, soft blanket. Mommy opened a small box. “Look, Max! I brought apple slices and cheese.”

Max smiled. “I like apples. I like cheese.”

Anna held a cookie. “Would you like a cookie, Max?”

Max nodded. “Yes, please!” He took a little bite. “Yummy!”

The park was full of sounds. Birds chirped. Children laughed. The grass was soft and green. Max lay down and looked at the clouds.

“Look, Anna! That cloud looks like a rabbit,” said Max.

Anna looked up. “I see it too! And that cloud looks like a boat.”

Mommy said, “Summer is a special time to play and rest. We can enjoy being together.”

Max felt warm and safe. “I like summer, Mommy.”

Mommy hugged Max. “I like summer too, Max. And I love spending time with you.”

After the picnic, they walked home together. Max's bucket was full of flowers. He held Mommy's hand.

Anna waved goodbye. “See you soon, Max!”

“See you, Anna!” said Max.

At home, Max put his flowers in a cup of water. He sat with Mommy and looked at the bright colors.

“I had a happy day, Mommy,” said Max.

Mommy kissed his head. “Me too, Max. Every day can be special, when we are together.”

Max smiled and closed his eyes, thinking about flowers, smiles, and sunshine.

Summer holidays made Max feel happy and loved.
