Summer Morning at the Camp

Lucy wakes up in her little bed. The sun is shining. Lucy is happy. “It is summer,” Lucy says. “I love summer!” She puts on her blue dress and her red shoes. She goes to the kitchen. Mommy is making breakfast. Daddy is drinking coffee. “Good morning!” Lucy says.

“Good morning, Lucy,” says Mommy. “It's a big day today! You are going to summer camp with your friends!”

Lucy smiles. She eats her toast with jam. She drinks her milk. “I am ready for camp!” Lucy says. Daddy gives her a big hug. “Have fun, Lucy!” says Daddy.

Lucy and Mommy walk to the camp. The air is warm. The sky is blue. Birds are singing. Lucy holds Mommy's hand. She feels safe and happy.

At the camp, Lucy sees her friend Mia. Mia waves. “Hello Lucy!” says Mia.

“Hello Mia!” says Lucy. Lucy and Mia laugh. They are excited.

Miss Anna, the camp leader, smiles at all the children. “Hello everyone! Welcome to summer camp!” says Miss Anna. “Today we will have fun, play games, and learn new things!”

Lucy hugs Mommy. “See you soon, Mommy!” says Lucy.

“Have a good day, my sweet girl,” says Mommy.

Fun and Learning Together

Lucy and Mia sit on the soft grass. Miss Anna says, “Let's sing a song!” All the children sing. Lucy sings loud and happy. Mia claps her hands. Lucy claps too.

Now it is time to play. Miss Anna says, “Let's play a game! We will run and jump. We will laugh and smile.”

Lucy runs. Mia runs too. They run fast. Lucy jumps. Mia jumps. “Look, I can jump high!” says Lucy.

“Yes, you can!” says Mia. “I can jump high too!” They laugh and laugh. All the children are happy.

After the game, Miss Anna brings a big box. “Let's paint,” says Miss Anna. “Let's make summer pictures.”

Lucy loves to paint. She paints a big yellow sun. She paints a red flower. Mia paints a blue sky. “I love your sun, Lucy,” says Mia.

“Thank you, Mia,” says Lucy. “I like your sky.”

Miss Anna says, “You are good friends. You help each other. That is kind.”

Lucy smiles. She feels good in her heart.

Picnic and Adventures

It is lunchtime. All the children sit on a big blanket under a big tree. Miss Anna gives everyone a sandwich and an apple. Lucy eats her sandwich. Mia eats her apple. “This is yummy,” says Lucy.

“Yes, it is!” says Mia.

After lunch, Miss Anna says, “Let's go on a little walk. Let's look for summer things.”

Lucy holds Mia's hand. They walk in the grass. They see a butterfly. The butterfly is yellow. Lucy says, “Hello, butterfly!”

Mia sees a ladybug. “Hello, ladybug!” says Mia.

Miss Anna says, “Look, children, summer is full of beautiful things.” Lucy looks at the trees. She sees green leaves and brown branches. She hears birds singing.

Lucy feels happy. She loves summer. She loves her friends. She loves learning new things.

Going Home Happy

The day at the camp is ending. Mommy comes to pick up Lucy. Lucy runs to Mommy and hugs her.

“Did you have fun?” asks Mommy.

“Yes, Mommy!” says Lucy. “I played games. I painted. I saw a butterfly. I made happy memories with Mia and Miss Anna.”

Mommy smiles. “I am so proud of you, Lucy.”

Lucy waves goodbye to Mia. “See you tomorrow, Mia!” says Lucy.

“See you, Lucy!” says Mia.

Lucy walks home with Mommy. The sun is still warm. The sky is still blue. Lucy feels safe. She feels loved.

Summer days are special. Summer days are happy. Lucy knows every day is a good day to learn, to play, and to be kind.
