Lily is a little girl. She is one year old. Lily is shy. She loves to play. She likes to smile. But Lily is scared. She is scared to talk.
One day, Mommy says, "Lily, let's sing." Lily looks at Mommy. Lily feels shy. She hides her face.

Lily tries. "La, la, la," she sings. It is soft. But Mommy claps. "Good job, Lily!" says Mommy.
Lily feels happy. She claps too. Clap, clap, clap. Lily feels brave now.
The next day, Lily goes to the park. There are many kids. Lily wants to play. But Lily is shy.
Lily sees a ball. A red ball. Lily likes the ball. Lily wants to ask. But she is scared.
Lily remembers Mommy. "You can try," Mommy said. Lily takes a big breath. She walks to the kids.
"Can I play?" asks Lily. Her voice is small. The kids smile. "Yes, let's play!" they say.
Lily smiles. She feels happy. She kicks the ball. The ball rolls. Lily laughs. The kids laugh too.
Lily is not scared now. Lily is brave. She talks. She plays. She is happy.
Later, Lily tells Mommy. "I talked," Lily says. "I played." Mommy hugs Lily. "You are brave," Mommy says.
Lily feels warm. Lily feels good. Lily knows she can try. She knows she can talk. She is a brave girl.
Lily goes to bed. She is sleepy. She dreams happy dreams. Lily smiles. She is not shy. She is brave.
