Chapter 1: Wolfie's Secret Night
Wolfie was a little grey wolf with big round eyes and a nose that wiggled whenever he was curious. Wolfie lived in a big, busy zoo, but he did not like to sleep when the moon was shining. Every night, after the zookeeper said goodnight and locked the gates, Wolfie would wait and wait, listening to the soft snoring of the sleepy lions.
One night, Wolfie whispered, “Is anyone awake? Hello? Anybody?”
He heard a tiny giggle. It was Squeaky, the little orange monkey, swinging from the tree in her cage.
“Psst, Wolfie!” Squeaky whispered, “Do you want to come on an adventure?”
Wolfie's nose wiggled and his ears perked up. “Oh yes! Where are we going?”
Squeaky swung her tail. “Let's sneak to the penguin pool and see if the penguins are having a midnight dance party!”
Wolfie tiptoed out of his cozy den. His paws went “pitter-patter, pitter-patter” on the soft grass. Squeaky swung from branch to branch, making funny monkey faces. Wolfie tried to make a funny face too, but his wolfy snout just looked extra long and silly.
They reached the penguin pool, but there were no penguins dancing. There were only lots and lots of bubbles!
Wolfie's eyes grew wide. “Where are the penguins?”
Just then, a little penguin popped up, wearing a shiny, yellow shower cap.
“Hello!” Penguin Pete said. “We're having a bubble bath party! Want to join?”
Wolfie looked at Squeaky. Squeaky looked at Wolfie.
“Can wolves have bubble baths?” Wolfie asked.
“Of course!” Penguin Pete giggled. “Just jump in and make a silly face!”
So Wolfie jumped in with a big SPLASH! Bubbles went everywhere—on his nose, on his ears, even on his tail! Squeaky jumped in too, making the biggest monkey splash ever.
“Look at me!” Wolfie said, balancing a bubble on his nose.
Squeaky made a bubble hat. Penguin Pete made a bubble beard.
They laughed and splashed until there were bubbles all over the penguin pool. Even the sleepy flamingos nearby giggled in their dreams.
Chapter 2: The Silly Snack Hunt
After the bubble bath, Wolfie shook his fur. Bubbles flew everywhere!
“I'm hungry,” Wolfie said, making his tummy rumble. “Are you hungry?”
Squeaky nodded. “Let's find a midnight snack!”
Penguin Pete waddled out of the pool, bubbles still on his head. “Let's look in the Snack Shack!”
The three friends tiptoed to the Snack Shack, a little hut with a big red door. The door was locked. But Squeaky was clever. She found the key under a big rock.
“Ta-da!” Squeaky cheered, holding up the key.
Inside, there were lots of snacks. Crunchy carrot sticks! Juicy watermelon! Banana chips! Fishy biscuits! And a giant pile of marshmallows.
Wolfie sniffed the marshmallows. “What are these? Are they clouds?”
Squeaky giggled. “No, silly! They're yummy and soft!”
Penguin Pete made a marshmallow sandwich. Squeaky made a marshmallow monkey face. Wolfie tried to eat a marshmallow, but it stuck to his nose!
“Oh no!” Wolfie cried. “I have a marshmallow nose!”
Squeaky laughed so hard she rolled on the floor. Penguin Pete waddled in circles. Wolfie tried to shake off the marshmallow, but it just bounced up and down on his nose.
Suddenly, Wolfie had an idea. He made a marshmallow hat for Penguin Pete, and Squeaky made a marshmallow necklace. They all looked very silly.
“Now we're the Marshmallow Gang!” Squeaky cheered.
They marched around the Snack Shack, singing:
“We are the Marshmallow Gang,
With marshmallows on our nose!
We are the Marshmallow Gang,
Wiggling our toes!”
They were so busy singing, they didn't see the sun peeking up behind the trees.
Chapter 3: Back to Bed
Wolfie yawned a long, wolfy yawn. “I'm sleepy now.”
Squeaky nodded. “Me too. My tail is tired from all the swinging.”
Penguin Pete waddled back to the pool. “Goodnight, friends. Thank you for the bubble fun and the marshmallow snacks!”
Wolfie and Squeaky tiptoed back to their cozy homes. Wolfie curled up in his soft den, with a little marshmallow still stuck on his nose.
Squeaky swung into her tree and wrapped her tail around a branch.
“Goodnight, Wolfie!” Squeaky whispered.
“Goodnight, Squeaky!” Wolfie giggled, his nose still wiggling.
The zoo was quiet again. The animals dreamed happy dreams of bubbles and marshmallows and silly songs.
And every night, Wolfie knew, there would be more adventures with his funny, wonderful friends.
