Chapter 1: The Wiggly, Wobbly String

Wolfie woke up with a big smile and a silly plan. “Today,” he said, “I will have the tidiest den in the whole forest!” He wagged his fluffy tail, looked around his cozy den, and spotted something strange: a long, wiggly string on the floor.

“Oh! This string is messy,” said Wolfie. “I will tidy it up!” But Wolfie's paws were big and the string was slippery. He pulled it this way and that. The string squiggled and wiggled and slipped under a chair. “Come back here, string!” laughed Wolfie.

Just then, his friend Bunny hopped by. “What are you doing, Wolfie?” asked Bunny, twitching her pink nose.

“I am catching this tricky string!” said Wolfie.

Bunny giggled. “Can I help?” She grabbed one end. Wolfie grabbed the other. They pulled. The string stretched. It did not behave. Suddenly—boing!—the string bounced out of their paws and landed right on top of Squirrel.

“Eek!” cried Squirrel, popping her head up. The string was now a hat! Squirrel giggled. “Am I a string queen?”

Wolfie howled with laughter. “You are the string queen!” Bunny wiggled her ears. Everyone laughed and laughed.

Chapter 2: The Silly String Parade

Wolfie had an idea. “Let's make a parade! The string will be our parade snake!” Squirrel danced in front, the string on her head. Bunny and Wolfie held the string behind her. They paraded around the den. They sang: “String parade, string parade! Wiggly, wobbly, string parade!”

But the string had its own plan. It wrapped around Bunny's foot. It looped around Wolfie's tail. It made a knot in between Squirrel's ears.

“Look! I have string antlers now!” laughed Squirrel.

“I have a string bracelet!” cheered Bunny.

Wolfie looked back at his tail. “Uh-oh. My tail is stuck!” The more they tried to fix it, the more the string tangled and twisted. There was string everywhere—on the table, on the lamp, even on Wolfie's nose!

“Oh dear,” said Wolfie, but he was still smiling. “This is the silliest tidy-up ever!”

Chapter 3: The Great String Surprise

Just then, Bear peeked inside. “What's all the giggling?” Bear saw the string mess. He saw Squirrel's string antlers, Bunny's string bracelet, and Wolfie's string tail.

Bear boomed, “Can I join the fun?” He tried to squeeze through the door. But CRACK! The old lamp tipped over. The lampshade fell off and rolled across the floor, covered in string.

Everybody stopped. Then Bunny giggled. Squirrel snorted. Wolfie howled.

Bear put the lampshade on his head. “Look at me! I'm Lamp-Bear!” The string dangled everywhere. Squirrel clapped her paws. Bunny hopped in a circle. Wolfie rolled on his back, laughing and laughing.

They all sat together, tangled up and happy. The tidy den was not tidy anymore. But it was full of friends and laughter and one very silly string.

Wolfie stretched and yawned. “I think this is the happiest, messiest den in the whole forest.”

Outside, the sun peeked in and the animals snuggled close, smiling at their wiggly, wobbly, wonderful day.
