Chapter One: The Little Snowy Morning
It was a soft, snowy morning. Snowflakes danced like tiny stars. Three friends woke up with happy hearts. Mia, a girl with bright mittens. Tom, a boy with a woolly hat. and Sara, a girl with little boots that squeaked.
They put on warm coats. They put on scarves like candy stripes. Outside, the world was white and quiet. The trees wore snowy coats. The air smelled like pine and cocoa.
“We will make the prettiest Christmas wreath,” said Mia. “We need pretty branches,” said Tom. “We will collect them together,” said Sara. They held hands and laughed. Their steps made small, crunchy sounds in the snow.
They walked to the little wood by the hill. The wood was gentle and friendly. Sunlight slipped through branches like gold ribbon. Tiny birds cheered. The three friends looked for branches that would look warm and kind on their wreath.
They found a thin branch with shiny green leaves. “This one is like a little bridge,” said Tom. They found a round twig that felt soft. “This one is like a hug,” said Sara. They found a branch with bits of red berry. “Like a tiny candle,” Mia said, smiling.
They placed each branch in a big basket. The basket was woven and smelled of summer and stories. The friends hummed a soft song. They sang the same line again and again. The song made their breath sticky in the air like ribbon.
Chapter Two: The Friendly Forest
The deeper they walked, the cozier the forest felt. A rabbit waved its ears. A fox peeked behind a snowy rock and bowed with his tail. The three friends picked branches gently. They did not break anything. They thanked each tree in a whisper.
“We must be kind to the trees,” said Sara. “They give us the prettiest gifts.” Tom nodded and placed a little pinecone back for the squirrel. Mia tucked a tiny feather into the basket for luck.
Suddenly, the wind sang a little louder. A flurry swirled. One little branch, the prettiest of all, tumbled from a low limb and bounced into the snow. It had silver frost and was shaped like a heart.
“Oh!” Mia gasped. “It looks like a star and a heart,” Tom said. “We should take it home,” said Sara.
They tried to reach it, but their mittens were sticky with snow. The branch was a little far. They worked together. Tom stood on a small rock. Mia reached from his shoulder. Sara pulled her scarf tight and held the basket steady. With a tiny stretch and a big laugh, they caught the branch.
They cheered softly. “We did it!” They hugged. The forest seemed to clap with soft leaves.
On their way back, they met old Mr. Owl. He blinked kindly. “Nice work,” he hooted. They showed him the heart-branch. “It will make your wreath glow,” he said in a whisper.
Chapter Three: Home, Cocoa, and Wreaths
When the sun began to set, the sky turned pink like marshmallow. The three friends walked home under a candy-colored sky. Their basket was full of branches, berries, and tiny treasures. Their cheeks were rosy. Their hands were warm in each other's.
At home, they spread the branches on a soft table. They made the wreath together. Mia twisted a ribbon. Tom tucked in red berries. Sara added the heart-branch in the middle. They laughed and sang their song again. “La la la, warm and bright,” they whispered.
When the wreath was done, it shone like a small moon. It smelled like pine and kindness. They hung it on the door. Their family came out and clapped. “It is beautiful!” said a gentle voice. The friends smiled and felt a warm glow in their bellies.
They drank cocoa with tiny marshmallows. They shared cookies shaped like stars. They talked about the rabbit, the fox, and Mr. Owl. They promised to be kind to trees and to each other. They promised to share every small surprise.
That night, snow fell softly again. The wreath on the door blinked in the lamp light. The three friends held hands. “Goodnight,” said Mia. “Goodnight,” said Tom. “Goodnight,” said Sara.
They went to bed with happy hearts. The house hummed a gentle tune. Outside, the forest kept watch. The world was safe, warm, and full of small wonders. The Christmas wreath shone like a promise. Friends were near. Love was near. All was peaceful and kind.
