Four girls in a small leaf-boat float along a narrow sky-blue river with silver ripples, bordered by large leaves and softly washed aquatic flowers; Lily, 5, blond pigtails and a light green coat, sits front-right gazing at the water in wonder; Mia, 5, short brown hair and a blue-and-white striped tee, sits mid-left reaching toward a thin curtain of mist opening into a shimmering arch; Zoé, 6, black braided hair and a mustard-yellow dress, sits mid-right leaning over with a small cup to retrieve a falling silver star-key from the water; Ana, 5, curly red hair and a pink sweater, stands at the boat's rear smiling and holding a tiny rudder made from a twig; they drift toward a misty doorway with a distant celestial garden of hanging bells and pastel cushion hills, in a luminous, joyful scene painted in a soft watercolor palette of sky blues, tender greens, warm yellows and silver highlights. report a problem with this image

Lily, Mia, Zoé, and Ana were two and very brave. They held hands in a bright boat made of a leaf. “Hop!” said Lily. The leaf boat went swish-swish on a blue stream.

Ahead was a soft fog gate. “Toc-toc,” said Mia, tapping it. The fog gate opened like a big, kind curtain. On the other side, the Sky Garden sang “la-la-la” with tiny bells.

A silver fish jumped. “Plouf!” It dropped a small star key in the water. Zoé reached with a cup. “Sip-sip,” went the cup. The star key was safe.

Now a tall hill of pillows rose up. The girls climbed, step-step. Ana panted, then smiled. “Up!” she said. At the top, the wind kissed their cheeks and made their hair dance.

Far away, a sleepy castle made of clouds waited. The door had a star hole. Lily put in the key. Click! The door opened.

Inside was a warm room with a big lamp like a moon. It glowed and showed a map on the floor, all lines and dots. “Go!” said Mia. They followed the dots, hop-hop, to a window.

They looked out. The whole world shone: stream, garden, hill, and sky. They hugged, giggling. “We did it,” said Zoé.

Moral: Small steps, taken together, can bring big bright adventures.
