Little Ben is one year old. He wakes with a big sun in the sky. He smiles. He pulls his soft hat on. He takes his tiny pack. He is ready.
Ben walks on a warm road. His feet are slow. His heart is loud and fun. He sees a blue pond. He sees a green hill. He sees a tree that hums. He claps his hands. He laughs.
A small bird flies near. "Come," says the bird. Ben crawls with joy. He holds a stick. He and the bird hop. They find a bright boat made of leaves. Ben pats the boat. He sits. The bird sings. The boat moves on the pond like a slow star.
Ben meets a kind fox. The fox has soft fur. The fox says, "I help." Ben nods. The fox lifts Ben a bit. Ben's hat stays on. No one goes far. No one cries. All is calm.
Ben climbs a low hill. He sees the wide sky. He waves. His small chest is brave. He has fun with each step. At the top, he finds a small bell. He rings it. The bell makes happy sound. The bird and fox clap. They all sing in a soft tune.
As the sun goes down, Ben goes home. He hugs his pack. He hugs his hat. He sleeps with a smile.
